Have you experienced going to a job interview? If you do, you can relate to what I'm gonna share.
My first job interview was when I had my internship in a 5-star hotel. I can say that it was one of the terrifying moments in my life. As a teenager, at first I was not serious about this interview thingy. I didn't have any idea on how this interview works. I thought it was just like an interview in a university. But obviously, no. Thank God, in our school, we had a professional development which opened my eyes towards the business world and real world.
The day before my interview, I was really nervous and I kept practising in my room talking to myself in front of the mirror. Well, it was effective because it gave me such confidence during the interview.
Anyway, we arrived in the place on time. I and my 3 classmates were there. We waited for 30 minutes on the guard house because the guard had to confirm it. After that, we were called and proceeded to the training room. Then we were given an exam. We were just 2 who passed the exam so we took the initial interview.
When I was waiting for the initial interview, I was totally nervous! Actually, from the moment I entered the back office of the hotel, I was nervous. Then it had been doubled when I was in the training room. And during this time, it has been tripled! And I did all of the tips I know on how to deal with the nervousness I was feeling and unfortunately, some worked but some didn't. I really wanted to shout to ease my tense. Thank God, I controlled it when I was in the initial interview already. I think what made me calm was my preparation. I just thought of the efforts and hardship I and my lecturers had when I was preparing for the interview. And because of that, I passed the initial interview. Then I proceeded to final interview and it went well; I answered the questions properly. Finally, I passed the job interview.
You know what I've realised in this experience is the importance of the preparation. Since then, whenever I have my job interview, I can conquer my fear and nervousness. So for those people who will have their first job interview, be prepared badly and good luck. Thank you for reading my blog. God bless. :)
